Start With the Evidence Before Setting Lending Priorities
Modernization Minute | Quash
Strategic planning often starts with priorities.
Loan growth.
Efficiency.
Risk.
Financial inclusion.
Member or customer experience.
Technology.
But there's an interesting question that can come before all of them:
What does the evidence tell us deserves our attention?
That doesn't mean data will hand you a strategy.
It won't.
But it can help you ask more specific questions.
Where are lending outcomes changing?
Are those changes concentrated within particular products or populations?
Where is manual review occurring most often?
What reasons are driving declines?
What information is available when those decisions are made?
And when you test a hypothesis against historical performance, does the evidence support it?
The answer doesn't have to lead to approving more loans.
It doesn't have to lead to changing a policy.
And it certainly doesn't have to lead to buying another technology.
The analysis may identify an area worth investigating further.
It may reinforce a strategy that's already working.
Or it may tell you that something you assumed was a priority really isn't.
That's insight, too.
And it's the thinking behind the complimentary lending analysis we're offering at Quash.
The goal is to look more closely at the lending environment and identify questions that may warrant deeper investigation or validation.
We don't know what the analysis will find until we do it.
That's precisely the point.
Start with the evidence. Let the findings help inform the strategy.
That's your Modernization Minute.
